It is hard to believe that the calendar wheel has turned to its fall chapter over the weekend. Just a week ago our 2018 Winter Yoga & Meditation Retreat filled up. People are gearing up for the cold season, and yet we are also still wearing flip flops, taking trips to the beach and hitting up our favorite ice cream shop one last time.
And while it feels like we are holding onto summer, the days continue to go by, and I sense an antsy-ness in the air--which comes along with the season of Fall. People are ready to slow down. We cannot keep up with the hyper-mobility of Summer, and yet we still have "things" we want to get done before the end of the year so there is that frantic kind of scrambling energy floating about.
Being in this twilight zone between seasons, I feel like my life is also being reflected back as I have one part of myself standing in the old ways of business and the other part of me is in this other place--this place of even deeper collaboration and creative opening. I am learning so much through this process of co-creating a larger studio/community space. While I am accustomed to working primarily alone there has been a shift in the balance of movement as I begin to work with many unique souls/personalities. I've had to open my trust up to the world a lot more, and it's been good for me. People have also had to be patient with me as I navigate new roads--developing contracts, new policies and procedures along the way. So much to learn together!
It feels like the world moves between a snail's pace and at the speed of light all at once--I suppose that nothing is new there--time is odd that way. But being in such a place of go-go-go, last week I decided as a great way to take care of myself and connect with others while we wait for this New Studio to come to life, I would host a 21 day Meditation Challenge. The challenge is ONLINE and FREE! We will start tomorrow (Monday, September 25) at 10am CST. I will host my FIRST live video call--because...why not? Really, the anxiety of starting another new thing will be washed away by the joy that a community practice will bring. Might as well ride the wave! So with that said, if you are new to meditation or want to recommit to your practice, please join our group, we have 9 of us so far setting the intention to meditate over the next 21 days, and I can't wait to see what will unfold for us as we stick with it.
Beyond that, I want to mention some other bits of news in case you missed it. First, Ignite Your Light: A Journey with the Elements is finally open for registration, and we already have received our first inquiry! I am only taking 10 students, so if you are looking for a program/retreat/space to deepen your relationship to you and if you want to develop new friendships and (re)connect with nature--Read more about the 4 month journey here >>
Secondly--as far as the physical space, we are a little "behind" on our progress with the floor installment. There were a few set backs and scheduling conflicts we ran into last week, but it seems we are back on track and the floors will go in this weekend. (Fingers crossed). I really look forward to this change up and once the floors are in, I look forward to the interior decorating!
Thirdly, aside from getting the floor put back together, this week will not be short of excitement. After the 10am call tomorrow, I meet with our seamstress (aka my mother-in-law...yay--it takes a village). We will go look for fabric to make covers for our yoga bolsters! I am very excited about this possibility as the bolster covers that we currently have are tough to remove. Adding an extra cover will not only protect the bolster but it will make it easier for more frequent cleanings. Oh it's the little things that bring me joy!
I also have another meeting with another local yoga teacher this week and will send contracts off to the rest of the teachers (finally!) I also hope to have most of the class descriptions uploaded to the website, too, so keep checking back!
Beyond that, my other goals for the week include:
1) Get payment and scheduling set up for people who want to buy class passes or sign up for a monthly membership/subscription. This has been a tangle I have been less than enthused to tackle, but it needs to be done!
2) Finish the schedule of events for the New Studio Open House. I can't wait to unveil the space to the community, soon!
What goals do you have for the week? I am not a fan of the word goal--instead I like to call them "wishes." What do you wish for?
I wish us all good vibes and positive energy for the week ahead!
Many blessings + love to you,
